Bimeda, and our superior quality pour-on for sheep, Ectofly, are delighted to be a mainline sponsor at the NSA Welsh Sheep Show, this May.

With our UK headquarters in Anglesey, Bimeda’s main focus is developing high quality products to treat and prevent disease and parasite infestation in livestock, horses and companion animals.

Bimeda’s Ectofly has already established itself as an important part of many sheep farmers’ Ectoparasite Contol Programme.

Ectofly is licenced for treatment of lice and tick infestations by applying a midline application using the straight nozzle supplied with Ectofly’s specialised designed applicator gun.

Ectofly is licenced for the treatment and prevention of Fly Strike. This means that at the first sign of maggot infestation in your flock, you can treat affected sheep. The product can then be applied to the entire flock, giving up to 8 weeks’ blowfly strike prevention.

Ectofly’s short 8 day meat withdrawal is a big advantage when treating finishing lambs. Ectofly is also licenced for the treatment and control of headflies, one application at the start of the season will 4 weeks protection against these annoying and disease causing pests.

It is important to be aware of the importance of using the correct nozzle for all the different indications of Ectofly. For Blowfly prevention, the fan spray nozzle must be used to ensure a good coverage of Ectofly on the fleece. For both Blow Fly treatment and Head Fly treatment the T-bar nozzle should be used.

All 3 different nozzles are supplied with the Ectofly applicator gun.

Ectofly’s active ingredient is Cypermethrin. Cypermethrins work as potent neurotoxins to all insects and are poorly absorbed by mammals including sheep which means they are effective against a wide range of ectoparasites while allowing safe and short 8 day withdrawal period.

Ectofly has an added blue dye which fades within days for ease of identification of treated animals.
